He did not know at that time what God had in store for him, and that his life would be categorized as the years “before Cuba and after Cuba." In 2009, he took a leadership role that involved establishing sister church relationships in the Holguin Norte and Ciego de Avila districts. Since that time, he established the Southwest District Mission Program/Chtist for Cuba to enhance the mission work being done in the country. Through the program Dan now serves in all districts. He travels the country of Cuba extensively, and has developed relationships and networks throughout. Jan worked for many years as a secretary/bookkeeper in Northern Illinois for a non-profit senior citizen organization serving three counties. Dan and Jan moved to Florida 32 years ago. He was the former Executive Director and Co-founder of the national coalition “Americans for Humanitarian Trade with Cuba” formed in 1998. He has worked on pursuing engagement and normalizing relations between both nations. She instantly fell in love with it, and today she uses it to build relationships with the people our program serves. Despite her corporate marketing and journalism background, God had a different plan for Amanda, one that would involve learning the pharmaceutical industry and intricate medical knowledge. On her first trip to Cuba, after seeing the empty pharmacy in town, her heart was broken. He didn’t know what he was getting into or how accepting the job would change his life. He’s now been to Cuba at least 20 times. He has a very good understanding of the Cuban culture and the current conditions in Cuba. Christian’s contribution to this mission is to find contacts and provide support in the areas of solar electric system and wells. He also leads his church’s support team for 3 sister churches.
